Meet the team

Hi! We are Sheila, Markus, and Becci. We met many years ago in Northampton due to a shared love of folk music. Sheila used to run French dancing group Badby Bals, based down the road from our current venue, which sadly came to a close before the pandemic. In 2022, we decided to revive French and Euro dancing in Northamptonshire and Weedon Balfolk was born!

Sheila is our resident dance expert. She usually starts our sessions with a mini workshop.

Markus and Becci are both musicians (violin and accordion) who form part of the house band.

We are passionate about inclusion and commit to treating everyone equally and equitably. We believe Balfolk is for everyone! Our events are safe and open to all. That includes, but is not limited to, those who are BAME (Black, Asian and minority ethnic), LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer), disabled, those who have mental health issues, and those who are religious or non-religious.

We will not tolerate discriminatory or harmful behaviour from anyone at our events, and you can be assured that we will take any issues seriously.
